About

Native West Texan. At home everywhere.

I am an indigenous Tarahumara or Raramuri woman with roots in far West Texas. My inspiration often comes from my connection to the land and experience with humanity, through all stages and seasons of life. My medium is steel and I have a discipline background specifically in public art sculptures. I also work in concrete and often incorporate aspects of that medium to provide contrast or utility to the sculpture's design.

Thankfully my skills were quickly noticed and large scale projects for Jeff Bezos Space Co. Blue Origin and multiple public art sculptures for the city of Leander, Tx launched my career. Due to that success I now own a gallery in downtown Marfa, Tx  and not only am I able to show my smaller sculptural bodies of work, but now can support and represent other artists as well from different backgrounds.

It's always through the spirit of collaboration and uplifting others that I'm able to build on my momentum as an artist/gallerist.  I often work with my welding mentor on larger jobs as he oversees the structural side of my designs. We have been welding together for three years now, which is how I learned my trade. I've had a career in Marketing/PR and earned an MBA, which I often joke was wasted and not directly relevant to where my life led me. I am part owner of Marfa Cement Works, weld for our clients home needs and create art a few times per year all while running my gallery part-time.

My work represents a contemporary design that is often tied in with form and function. I make my sculptures extra durable in hopes it will surpass me in this lifetime and inspire women to enter into trades like welding because their presence is greatly needed in the industry. The work of Claes Oldenburg has inspired me to keep creating large scale sculptures out of ordinary objects like the feathers I made for Mr. Bezos or the oversized horseshoe sculpture I made for the City of Leander. I believe there is beauty in the ordinary parts of our life. It's my job to magnify that beauty and share it with the public.
